Sailor Memorial
The City of Long Beach has recently added this statue in Bluff Park to honor sailors, both military and civilian. All around the statue of the sailor and his bag are tiles with names of sailors who have passed on.
Jonathan, thanks for posting this memorial. My dad was stationed in Long Beach several times in his naval career, and I remember well getting to go aboard ship on one of his returns to port. Hey, any chance of getting a shot of Signal Hill? I have fond high school memories of trying to to drive all the way to the top one night in a manual transmission VW beetle full of kids. Ah the smell of those oil wells! -Kim

I'll trek up to Signal Hill and see if I can't get a couple of good shots for you.

Glad you said it was a sailor. Looks more like a rap artist or the like from that distance! Nice sculpture.
