Island White

Island White sits in the harbor just across the street from my house. It is an artificial island built, along with 3 others, to drill oil and/or natural gas (not certain which). Three of the islands were named after the men who died on Apollo 1. The other was named after the first person to die "in the line of duty" in the space program (Freeman). I'm not sure when the islands were built, but fascades were designed for all of them, purportedly by Walt Disney, to present a more attractive front thus not offending the more "delicate" senses of those who live along the water. At night they are lit up with pastel colored lights.
